Perfected in Christ

Our starting point is Gensis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created…” from this moment until the second coming of Jesus the subject of the Bible is reconciliation with God for our sins to have Eternal Life with God. Before we even open our Bible, we must make a decision about ourselves and God. This decision is called “CHOICE”, we will either choose to follow God or not to follow. However, we must understand that should we choose to follow God, He expects us to be totally committed.

Luke 11:23 (KJV)

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

Psalm 37:21-27 (KJV) – Old Testament

21  The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22  For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25  I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26  He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27  Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

Romans 6:14-23 (KJV) – New Testament
14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was                               delivered you.
18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20  For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A chapter in my book, “HOW MANKIND WENT WRONG”, explains how we listened to Satan’s lies and started twisting God’s Word to fit Satan’s lies. We have learned that by doing this there is only one Judgement that can be applied to our life…Eternal Damnation to Hell. This is NOT the Judgement that God wants for us, He wants us to have ETERNAL LIFE with HIM.

Now, we will establish a solid foundation for becoming PERFECTED IN CHRIST according to God’s will and plan. Thank you for asking that question. The question is “Since we are humans and full of Sin how can we be Perfect like Jesus?” The answer is very simple and straight forward.

First, we must be a child/disciple of Jesus through Salvation, we must be Baptized into Jesus being washed by His blood. (See a separate article on this subject.)

Secondly, we must maintain this perfection by developing a Christian Character and producing good fruit following the guidelines He has established for us to follow. Remember these guidelines are established by God and cannot be altered in anyway. (In a separate article I show how Christians CAN lose their salvation.)

John 15:5, 8 (KJV) – We are “the Branches”…meaning we are in Christ.

5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

8  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Galatians 5:22-26 (KJV) - Fruit of the Spirit – we receive this when we are

Baptized

22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23  gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

24  And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

James 1:2 - 4 (KJV) – From the Fruit of the Spirit our Christian Character is born.

2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Romans 5:1 - 5 (KJV) – Some of our Christian Character Traits

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

2 Peter 1:5-11 (KJV) – Some more Christian Character Traits

5  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
6  to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
7  to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
8  For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9  For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
10  Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
11  for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We know that our current character will not get us into Heaven, therefore, we must develop a Godly Character (Christian Character) and maintain it until our death to receive salvation. Let’s see what God expects from us as His “adopted son”.

Galatians 4:6-7 (KJV) – Sons of God

6  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

John 15:5,8 (KJV) – Vine and Branches

5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

8  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples

The fruit of the Spirit – we receive this when we are Baptized

(Galatians 5:22-26)

Our Christian Character reflects these traits;

Tribulation to Hope (Romans 5:1 – 5)
Tribulation worketh Patience
Patience worketh Experience
Experience worketh Hope
Hope maketh not Ashamed the Love of God

Faith to Love (2 Peter 1:5-11)
Faith gives Virtue
Virtue gives Knowledge
Knowledge gives Self-Control
Self-Control gives Perseverance
Perseverance gives Godliness
Godliness gives Brotherly Kindness
Brotherly Kindness gives Love

When we meet Jesus for our judgement, He will judge us on this Character guideline!

Hebrews 5:12-14 (KJV)

12  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13  For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Hebrews 4:12-13 (KJV) – (New Testament)

12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
